Louisa County, VA
April 23, 1836

I Roderick Johnson of the County of Louisa and State of Virginia do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner and form following, to wit:

First. I desire that my Just debts and funeral expenses be paid. Secondly. I loan to my wife Evelina Johnson all of my Estate both real & personal during her life. Thirdly. At her death, it is my Will and desire that my said wife Evelina shall have the priviledge of disposeing of the one half of my said estate by her last will and testament as she may think proper. Fourthly. It is mutually agreed by my wife Evelina Johnson & myself that at her death she is to give to my niece Kitty Hopkins fifty dollars. I also give to William J. Hopkins fifty dollars after the death of my wife Evelina Johnson. Fifthly. My will and desire is that all the balance of my estat not heretofore disposed of shall be equally divided between my four Brothers following (to wit) Benjamin Johnson, Colin Johnson, William Franklin Johns; and Semore Johnson. Sixthly and lastly, I appoint Doctor Frederick Perkins my sole Executor to this my last will and testament given under my hand and seal this twenty third day of April one thousand eight hundred & thirty six.

In Louisa County Court June the 13th 1836
On the motion of Frederick Perkins the Executor named in the last Will and Testament of Roderick Johnson dec'd who made oath according to law and together with Nathaniel Perkins his security who justifed on oath as to his sufficiency entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of five thousand dollars conditioned as the law directs a certificate is granted him for obtaining a probat of said will in due form.
