last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say 1st I
lend to my wife Kitty Perkins the tract of land on which I live, together
with my plantation utensils, my riding carriage, two choice horses, four
cows, one half of my household furniture, all my kitchen furniture, one yoke
of oxen, and direct that she shall have provision sufficient to support
herself, her stock, and the negroes I lend her, for twelve months, and at the
death of my said wife, I direct that the property herein before mentioned
shall be sold and the proceeds thereof be equally divided among my children
who are now living. 2'dly, I give to my grandson Robert Joseph Perkins, son

by the name of Anna, and I direct that my grand daughter Kitty Perkins,
daughter of my said son Richard shall receive one hundred and fifty dollars
at the death of my wife and my grand son John B. Perkins, and my grand
daughter Nancy T. Perkins, children of my said son Richard shall receive one
hundred dollars each at the death of my wife; and I moreover direct that my
son Richard's family shall receive nothing more from my estate, as I consider
they will have received at least their full proportion of my estate,
including what I have herein given the children. 4'thly I give my grand
daughter Kitty A. Johnson, daughter of William F. Johnson a small negro girl
by the name of Indianna. 5'thly I direct that my tract of land which lays
adjoining the lands of my brother Joseph Perkins dec.d and the lands of Col.
John Guerrant, together with such of my perishable property as I have not
herein before disposed of, shall be sold to pay my debts, and should the
property last mentioned be insufficient for that purpose, I in that case
direct that my executors herein after named, shall sell such other of my
property for the completion of the payment of my debts as they may think
proper. 6'thly after my debts are paid, and the legacies herein before
mentioned shall have been satisfied, I lend all my negroes then remaining to
my aforesaid wife during her life and at her death I direct that the negroes,
and other property lent her shall be sold and the money arising therefrom be
equally divided among my children, my son Richard's family excepted. 7'hly I
do not consider myself indebted to any of my children except my son Nathaniel
who holds my bond for a small amount, which must be paid him. Should any of
my children present claims against my estate, except the claim of my son
Nathaniel as mentioned above, or any other person claiming under them by
assignment or otherwise; should the dates of such claims be prior to the date
of this my will, I direct that such claims shall be paid out of that portion
of my estate, which will be allotted to, or in other words, which the party
so claiming, may be entitled to. And lastly, I do hereby constitute and
appoint my sons Joseph Perkins and Nathaniel Perkins Executors of this my
last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all other or former wills or
testaments by me heretofore made, with a special request that my executors
aforesaid will direct in what manner my land and my wife shall be cultivated,
so that it sustain the least possible injury. In witness whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this third day of May One thousand
eight hundred and thirty seven.

At a Court of quarterly session held for Louisa County at the Courthouse
thereof on the 12th day of March 1838.
A paper writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Robert
Perkins decd. was exhibited in Court and was proved by the oaths of Spotswood
L. Attkinson, Thomas F. Armstrong and George P. Shelton subscribing Witnesses
thereto and by the Court is ordered to be recorded.
