He died in Louisa County ca. 1822 and is buried in Poplar Springs, Va. He was married to Martha PERIERE and they had 9 children. Two of the children became Methodist ministers (Nathan and Thomas Periere) and lived in Halifax and Pittsylvania Counties in VA. • BELL, LASLEY, MORRIS posted by Kathleen M. Quinn on Saturday, September 20, 1997
  • Email: kmar13@yahoo.com

I am looking for any information on a Myrtilia S. MORRIS, daughter of John Lea MORRIS and Emily Jane LASLEY of Louisa. Myrtilia was born on 16 Mar 1847. Her mother died when she was 5; her father when she was 8. After the death of her father in 1855, she appears in the household of her aunt and uncle, Hardenia P. LASLEY and Ashley J. BELL (this according to the 1860 Census for Fluvanna County). At the time of the 1860 census, Myrtilia was 13 years old. By the time of the 1870 Census, she has disappeared from the BELL household and would have been 23, old enough to have been married. Does anyone have a Myrtilia S. MORRIS married into their family? I would love to know what happened to her. (Please note that she is recorded as Matilda in the 1850 census, but our family Bible records her as Myrtilia.)
  • BYARS, HARRIS posted by Wilma J. Kelly on Tuesday, September 30, 1997
  • Email: BGRZ29A@prodigy.com

My ancester Nathanielle or Nathaniel HARRIS entered the Continental Army sometime between 1779-81. He enlisted at an early age (16-18) in Louisa which, I presume was his home at the time. I am trying to find birth records or marriage records of him and his parents. He was married to Martha BYARS. He moved later to Washington County and is found in the Census there I believe about 1810. Actually he lived and died in the part of Washington that became Smyth County and is found in the census after it's formation. He died in Smyth as a vet. of the Revolutionary War. His son is Nathienal and he died in Smyth Nov. 27, 1873. Nathienal was born about Aug. 2, 1801 probably Louisa. Nathienal Sr. was born about 1760-1763.

Searching for information regarding my great grandfather John Robert HARRIS born in Louisa County VA between 1840 and 1850. I know very little about him, and nothing of his father, mother and other family members before him. He served in the Confederate army during the Civil War in the Frederick's Hall Gray's as a surgeon. He married a lady whose name may have been Mary FIGG. Robert and Mary may have migrated to the Paducah, KY area. He and his wife had at least one son, my grandfather, Robert Figg Harris who lived in Paducah KY -- all family records and more were washed away during the Great Ohio River Flood of 1936. Does anyone have more information about John Robert Harris? I am willing to share all the Harris family history that I have.
