HOSKINS, STERNER posted by Deb Sterner on Saturday, March 20, 2004
  • Email: dsterner@wzrd.com

My research into HOSKINS stems from Susan's marraige to Albert STERNER (my lineage) whose child, George Washington Sterner, is my Great, Grandfather. George settled in Austin, Potter County, Pennsylvania. My father has since retired to the home George and Effie Dot (Buck) Sterner purchased in 1908 (approx.) Restoration of the home revealed a box of old photos. Most treasured is a family portrait of Susan, Albert and 4 children (approx 1885-7).

  • HEGAMYER, NEVIN, NEVINS, NIVENS, SCHAFER, WALDROP posted by Laurie and Steve Goode on Sunday, June 6, 2004
  • Email: laag61@mchsi.com

We also found out new information since our original posting Lula WALDROP. We were correct that her parents were Spottswood Dabney Waldrop and her mother was Mary Elizabeth. However, we were incorrect that Lula was adopted. It seems that Lula's niece was confused and what she meant to tell us was that Mary Elizabeth was adopted, not Lula. The birth parents of Mary Elizabeth were SCHAFER (which could be spelled many different ways) and there was also a sister Rebecca Schafer (who we are told married a man by surname HEGAMYER) and a brother Phillip Schafer. Mary Elizabeth was adopted by a Charles and Elizabeth (possibly NEVIN, NEVINS, NIVENS?). So now instead of trying to figure out who Lula's parents were, we are trying to figure out who Mary Elizabeth Schafer/Nevins parents were. She was born abt 1840 and dies abt 1931. Her adoption was something that was known to her and her family from what we have learned. Yet we are at a dead end on finding out her birth parents and adoptive parents identity.

  • Email: Buckimommy@wmconnect.com

LOWERY/LOWRY I am seeking information on William Lowry who married Lucy Pulliam Dec. 10, 1787 in Louisa County, VA. William and Lucy Lowry are believed to be living in Madison County, Kentucky by 1810. Possible children would be: James Lowery, b. abt. 1792 in Louisa County, VA; William Lowery b. abt. 1800 VA; Elijah Lowery b. VA, Shelton Lowery b. VA. Any information would be helpful. There were two Lowry/Lowery families living in Madison County, KY in 1810. One family was from N.C. and the other was from VA. James Lowery is the only definite link that we have to Louisa County, VA. Thanks for any help you can give.
