DUKE, NUCKOLS I would like to contact anyone who knows this family: Mildred Overton DUKE was born on 14 Jan 1838. Samuel Reuben Nuckols' Bible shows date. Descendant has 14 Apr 1838. She died on 23 Jul 1866 in Hanover County, Virginia. She is the daughter of Thomas Duke and Ann Overton Holladay. She was married to Samuel Reuben NUCKOLS (son of Reverend Hardin Duke NUCKOLS and Jane Ambler JONES1 ) on 17 Apr 1856 in Louisa County, Virginia. A descendant has 14 Apr 1856 from MARRIAGE REGISTRY FOR LOUISA COUNTY 1850-1861 (available on microfilm.) Searching for a THOMPSON connection....In the 1840, 1850, and 1860 Louisa Co. census records, there is a Richard A. THOMPSON, wife Jane, and 6 children. One is a son named Richard. In the 1850 census Richard is listed as age 17 - meaning he was born in 1833. Also in the 1850 census, the father, Richard A. is listed as 52 - meaning he was born in 1798. In the 1860 census, the son is not listed with the family - he is missing. In Pike Co. MO, I had a g-grandfather named George R. THOMPSON, born July 18, 1833 somewhere in VA. He came to MO in 1853. In 1870, he had a visitor at his MO farm named ARchi THOMPSON, age 72, also born in VA. We assume this ARchi was George's father. My question is: could my George R. and Archi be the same persons as the Richard and Richard A. THOMPSON'S listed on the Louisa Co. census records. The dates are right - but I'm not so sure about the names. Can anyone help?

SHARP I am looking for information on James N. Sharp and Shadrick Sharp of Hempstead &/or Howard county Arkansas and Louisa Co. VA. Or for any Sharps in Louisa Co. VA. My great-great-grandfather was James N. Sharp b. Dec 1810 in VA. He moved from VA near Richmond (Louisa Co. most likely) to Hempstead Co.AR around 1835. He was married and widowed before 1850 as he is listed on the 1850 Hempstead Co AR census with the following children: Ages and names for children of this marriage taken from 1850 census records for Hempstead County, Arkansas. Child: Sharp, Sheddrick Born:About 1839, Arkansas Sharp, Mary Born: About 1842, Arkansas Sharp, Elizabeth Born: About 1844, Arkansas Sharp, Robert J. Born: 25 December 1847, Arkansas His first wife may or may not have been Mary Talkington. A James Sharp married a Mary Talkington in Hempstead Co in 1834. He may have married in VA before moving to AR. James N. apparently had a brother named William Alpheus (James had a grandson named James Alphus). William Alpheus was born abt 1808 in Louisa Co. VA. According to that family Wm. A's father was Henry, an Irish immigrant. Also according to WA's family Wm settled in Sevier Co in 1835. Sevier Co lies adjacent to Hempstead Co. I believe that William Alpheus was James N's brother but believe that his father's was probably not an Irish immigrant, but Henry may have been part of his Christian name. James N. remarried in 1852 to Lucinda Chandler and they had the following children: Child: Sharp, Sarah Sharp, Permely "Mealie" Born: 1853, Died: 1931, Buried: 1931, Saline Cemetery, Howard County, Arkansas Spouses: Burk, Thomas Franklin (1859-1925) Sharp, John William Born: 1868, Sharp, James Henry Born: 9 January 1869, Ark or Va Died: 6 February 1942, Howard County, Arkansas Buried: Bissell Chapel Cemetery Spouses: Tate, Martha Jane (1871-1948) James N. is nowhere to be found on the 1860 census for Hempstead or Pike Co. AR. He and Shadrick are found listed on the 1860 Virginia Census Index. With James N. residing at Thompsons Crossroads and Shadrick at Fredericks Hall P. O. in Louisa Co. VA. Family history state that James N. did return to VA, he may even have married Lucinda there (her family resided in Pike Co AR in 1860). Family history also states that their son James Henry was born there. According to the 1860 VA census index, the following Sharps were living in Louisa Co. VA in 1860: America A.--Shannon Hill P. O. Elizabeth--Fredericks Hall P. O. Elizabeth F.--Thompson's Crossroads James N.--Thompson's Crossroads M. D.--Fredericks Hall P. O. Martin--Amblers Mill & Jackson Mary E--Shannon Hill P. O. Michael J.--Fredericks Hall P. O. Robert J.--Fredericks Hall P. O. Sarah--Fredericks Hall P. O. Shadrick--Fredericks Hall P. O. Thomas--Fredericks Hall P. O. William--Fredericks Hall P. O. William N.--Jackson P. O. I believe that the Robert J., Shadrick, Sarah, and Elizabeth living at Fredericks Hall were James N. Sharp's children. Any information on the Sharps of Louisa Co Va would be greatly appreciated. My local genealogy library does not have the 1860 Louisa Co. VA census and the suspense is killing me.
