In Will Book 4, LOUISA CO. VA. notes the appraisement of the estate of HENRY DICKASON. ROZAMON DICKENSON. Adm. by Samuel Cole, Malcom Hart, William Meade, Joseph Sandidge, and John Gibson. Recd. 11 Dec. 1798. Who were HENRY DICKASON'S parents? Who were his wife, ROZAMON (ROSANAH) DICKENSON'S parents? Rosanah and Henry's daughter, Joannah (Elizabeth) Dickerson (Dickenson) married HENRY MEADE (1760-1836) in Louisa Co. on April 9, 1798. Who were HENRY MEADE'S parents? He had sons named VIVION MEADE and MINOR MEADE, so I suspect Minor ancestry. Thanks.

  • ANTHONY, DEGGE, DIGGES, DIGGS, KENT posted by Norma Diggs on Sunday, September 27, 1998
  • Email: normad@intrex.net

DIGGS--John DIGGS (DEGGE). I'm searching for more information regarding John, husband of Lucy (who?). He died before 9 Sept. 1776, the Adv. Bond for John DIGGS, Louisa Co., VA Will Book 2, p. 293, when Thomas DIGGES was named Administrator. The appraisement of the estate was in Book 7, p. 300, the settlement in Book 7, p. 474. Abstract of deed in Louisa Co., VA Deed Book 1, p. 48: on 6 March 1795, Thomas DIGGS, Ann DIGGS, and Lucy DIGGS, widow of John DIGGS, dec'd sold 100 acres to William Busby. • ANTHONY, DESPER, DIGGS, HOLLAND, KENT, STODGELL posted by Norma Diggs on Sunday, September 27, 1998
  • Email: normad@intrex.net

KENT--Ann KENT in Albemarle and Thomas DIGGS in Louisa were married 9 June 1775 by Rev. William Douglas at St. James Northam Parish, Goochland Co., VA. (DOUGLAS MARRIAGE REGISTER) The wording is strange. Does this indicate a proxy marriage? The 1820 Federal Census for Louisa Co., VA shows 1 male 45+ and 1 female 45+. The 1830 Federal Census for the same county shows 1 male 60-70, 1 male 70-80, 1 female 60-70. If Ann is the female, she would have been born 1760-1770. Since she married in 1775, she must have been born in 1760 which still makes her very young (15 yrs. old) at the time of her marriage. If Thomas was the younger man in the 1830 Census, he would have been only 15 yrs. old at the time of his marriage, also. If he were the older man, he could have been 25 or older at the time of his marriage. WHO ARE ANN'S PARENTS? Ann and Thomas had three or four children: (1.) Thomas DIGGS, Jr., m. Elizabeth DESPER 6 Feb. 1809, Louisa Co., VA; (2.) Polley DIGGS ? m. James STODGELL 26 April 1801, Louisa Co., VA, Thomas DIGGS was surety, (3.) Lucy DIGGS m. Richard HOLLAND 22 Dec 1806, Louisa Co., VA, Thomas DIGGS named as Lucy's father and surety; and (4.) John DIGGS m. Elizabeth Price ANTHONY Feb. 1813, Louisa Co., VA.
